Poland expands renewable energy and offshore wind initiatives

Poland is accelerating its energy transition through several strategic initiatives in the renewable energy sector. Vestas is seeking to expand its supply chain by integrating more Polish companies to support offshore wind farm development in the Baltic Sea. The company plans to present its procurement needs and partnership guidelines during the Vestas Supplier Day 2026 in Szczecin on November 25.

In the offshore sector, PGE Baltica is relocating its headquarters to Gdańsk to be closer to its Baltic Sea projects and the local supply chain. The move aims to strengthen the company’s presence in the Pomerania region, which serves as a hub for offshore wind development.

Additionally, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna has launched Project MOC. This initiative is designed to acquire renewable energy projects, energy storage facilities, and grid infrastructure. The group is seeking investments in onshore wind, photovoltaics, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), with minimum capacity requirements of 20 MW for wind and solar, and 50 MW for battery storage.
