Poland expands satellite communication and space technology capabilities

Poland is advancing its sovereign satellite communication capabilities through two major strategic initiatives. The Polish SatCom Alliance, comprising Exatel, Energa-Operator, Creotech Instruments, and Phoenix Systems, has signed a memorandum of cooperation to develop a domestic satellite internet access system. This initiative aims to utilize national technologies to provide secure, resilient data transmission for critical infrastructure, particularly for the energy sector and public administration in areas where terrestrial networks are insufficient.

In a separate development, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) has signed a letter of intent with Viasat to explore cooperation in advanced satellite communications and space technologies. The partnership will evaluate potential collaboration in areas such as ground station antennas, SATCOM terminals, and military communication satellites. This move is intended to strengthen Poland's space competencies and support the security of the NATO eastern flank.
