Poland expects decision on permanent U.S. military base by late 2026

A decision regarding the establishment of a permanent United States military base in Poland is expected to be reached in November or December 2026. This timeline follows the conclusion of a U.S. review of force deployment in Europe. Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, Deputy Minister of National Defense, noted during discussions in Washington that while the final decision rests with President Donald Trump, Polish government and presidential representatives are actively engaged in consultations with the U.S. administration.

In addition to the base discussions, Poland is negotiating with Lockheed Martin to build a PAC-3 missile service center within the country. This facility would serve all European users of the Patriot system, significantly reducing repair times. The establishment of this service center is viewed as a preliminary step toward potential missile production in Poland, providing a secure alternative to manufacturing sites in conflict-affected regions like Ukraine.
