Poland sees cooling spell followed by heat wave in late July 2026

A cooler air mass from the north will dominate Poland from Monday through Thursday, keeping daytime temperatures below 20 °C in most regions. Forecasts show highs near 15‑19 °C in the north and east, with only the southern areas occasionally reaching the low 20s. The cooling period is expected to end by Thursday, after which warmer air will move in.

Severe weather alerts have been issued for the Silesian region, especially around Katowice. A second‑degree warning from the Institute of Meteorology and the Governmental Center for Safety (RCB) warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain (up to 35 mm m⁻²), hail and wind gusts up to 100 km/h, with possible power outages and local flooding.

From Friday onward, temperatures are projected to rise sharply, with the forecast calling for highs of 30‑34 °C in southern Poland by the end of July and early August, returning summer‑type heat. The shift will be most pronounced on the western and southwestern fronts, while the rest of the country gradually warms.
