Poland faces critical teacher shortage in schools

Poland is facing a significant shortage of teachers in schools and kindergartens. According to Agnieszka Kownacka from the District Labor Office (PUP) in Poznań, job offers in the education sector currently account for 50 percent of all job postings submitted to the office.

Data indicates that the shortage is widespread across various subjects and is not limited to specific urban or rural areas. Schools are actively seeking candidates, sometimes even hiring individuals who are still in the process of professional training to fill vacancies.

Due to the complexity of managing educational staff—which requires knowledge of the Teacher's Charter and specific educational regulations alongside the Labor Code—there is a growing need for specialized HR professionals in the sector. These specialists manage tasks such as professional advancement documentation, determining seniority, and handling employment contracts within the unique framework of educational institutions.
