Poland faces deepening political and cultural divides

Sociologists and musicians are highlighting deep cultural and political divisions within Poland. Musician Zbigniew Hołdys noted a significant rift between metropolitan areas and rural provinces, observing that large cities tend to support liberal democracy and avant-garde culture, while smaller towns often favor conservative politics and disco polo music.

Separately, sociologist Przemysław Sadura from the University of Warsaw warns of an impending peak in populism within the country. He suggests that the traditional political duopoly of Donald Tusk and Jarosław Kaczyński is nearing its end, particularly among younger voters. Sadura predicts that the political landscape may shift toward more radical options, noting that younger generations view established leaders as outdated and may gravitate toward different ideological poles.
