Poland faces legal and political tensions over Constitutional Tribunal

Poland is facing ongoing political and legal tensions regarding the Constitutional Tribunal. The institution is currently described by critics as being in a state of ruin due to previous government appointments and leadership, including figures such as Julia Przyłębska and Bogdan Święczkowski.

Protesters have established a tent camp near the Tribunal to defend the institution against potential intervention by the current government. There are concerns that if the government uses police force to allow Sejm-selected judges access to the building, it could provide political leverage to the opposition.

Separately, legal disputes have emerged involving journalists from Onet and representatives from wPolsce24. These disputes involve allegations regarding the personal background of President Karol Nawrocki and the refusal of Marshal Czarzasty to cooperate with certain media outlets, citing a lack of trust in their reporting.
