Karkonoska Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego under CBA investigation
The Karkonoska Agencja Rozwoju Regionalnego (KARR) is under investigation by the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) following allegations of irregularities in the distribution of flood relief funds from 2024. The investigation focuses on approximately 4.5 million PLN in aid granted to three companies in Dziwiszów, which reportedly received funds despite satellite imagery and fire service records indicating their properties were not flooded.
One of the beneficiaries, a company owned by the husband of KARR Vice President and Koalicyja Obywatelska (KO) activist Anna Konieczyńska, received 200,000 PLN. Other controversial recipients include Kadalore, which received 3.2 million PLN for damages to a children's playroom that had never opened, and the Dami advertising agency, which received 1.12 million PLN.
As a result of the growing scandal, Anna Konieczyńska has been suspended from the Koalicyja Obywatelska party. The CBA is examining whether proper procedures were followed, including the verification of damage and the presence of required impartiality declarations. The political party Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) has formally requested the CBA to investigate the matter, questioning the documentation and decision-making processes used to award aid to entities that may not have been affected by the floods.
