Poland Forest Guard launches nationwide autumn inspection campaign

The General Directorate of State Forests has announced a nationwide preventive and control operation titled ‘Autumn 2026’. Scheduled to run from September 14 to October 18, the Forest Guard will conduct patrols across Poland to manage the increased activity associated with the mushroom picking season.

Key objectives of the operation include ensuring the safety of pedestrians and enforcing regulations against unauthorized motorized vehicle access to forest areas. Authorities are specifically targeting illegal driving on forest roads by cars and quads, which poses risks to families and seniors. Additionally, patrols will address environmental pollution issues that typically rise during this period.

Drivers are reminded that parking is only permitted in designated areas marked by foresters, such as those with D-18 signage. Entering forests with motor vehicles can result in fines ranging from 20 to 500 PLN, which may increase to 5,000 PLN if settled in court. Fines for entering nature reserves or national parks can reach up to 5,000 PLN.
