Poland fresh produce prices tumble as cabbage and strawberry markets hit historic lows

In Poland, the price of young head cabbage has collapsed to a historic trough. Bulk market prices are now 1.50–2.50 PLN per head, a roughly 20% drop from early June and comparable to the severe 2021 season. Retail prices have fallen to 0.50–0.70 PLN per kilogram, with some offers below 0.50 PLN/kg, marking an unprecedented low at the start of the season.

At the same time, the industrial purchase price of strawberries has slumped by more than half. Buyers are now paying 5.00–6.00 PLN per kilogram for stem‑less fruit, over 1.5 zł lower than the same period last year, while stemmed berries trade around 4.00 PLN/kg. The price fall follows a delayed start to industrial buying and weak demand, prompting processors to adopt a cautious, price‑controlling strategy.

Both commodities are experiencing weak demand and significant price reductions, signalling a challenging market outlook for Polish producers.
