Poland fuel prices hit record highs amid political criticism

Fuel prices in Poland have reached significant new highs, prompting criticism from opposition politicians toward Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The national average price for Pb95 gasoline has risen to 7.89 PLN per liter, the highest level since June 2022. Additionally, diesel prices have broken previous records, reaching a national average of 8.76 PLN per liter.

Mariusz Błaszczak, head of the PiS parliamentary club, criticized the government for failing to support drivers following the end of the ‘Lower Fuel Prices’ program. He noted that while Tusk had previously campaigned on promises of lower fuel costs, current prices are nearing 9 PLN for diesel. Błaszczak warned that a scenario where fuel reaches 10 PLN per liter is becoming increasingly realistic.

Similarly, MP Marcin Grabowski challenged the Prime Minister regarding unfulfilled campaign promises, highlighting high costs at Orlen stations. Industry experts, including Unimotu President Adam Sikorski, have expressed concerns that prices may continue to climb toward the 10 PLN mark.
