Poland funds university teaching innovation projects and opens James Dyson Award 2026

Teaching Innovation Competition James Dyson Award Poland gamification labs innovation grants

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Gdańsk University of Technology awarded funding to two projects in the sixth edition of its Teaching Innovation Competition. The project "Blackout: Measure to Survive" received 15,230 zł to introduce gamified laboratory exercises on power measurements, while "Tame the Electric and Magnetic Field – Gamification in Electrodynamics Lab" received 19,929.80 zł to implement a point‑based system for lab reports. Both projects run from 1 Oct 2026 to 30 Sep 2027.

The James Dyson Award 2026 calls for the next generation of innovators. National winners will receive over 24,000 zł and the chance to compete internationally, where international laureates can win more than 146,000 zł. Submissions close on 15 July 2026. Past winners include Polish PhD student Filip Budny for the WaterSense real‑time water‑quality monitor and Alessandra Galli for the OnCue smart keyboard for Parkinson’s patients.
