Poland Gniezno Kindergarten Scandal: False Diagnoses Funded by Health Insurance

Parents of children attending three preschools in Gniezno discovered that health records listed adaptive‑disorder diagnoses and psychologist visits that never occurred. The entries were entered by the private medical centre Log‑Med, which had been contracted to provide psychological services for Kindergarten No. 10, Kindergarten No. 15 and Primary School No. 12. All therapy sessions were billed to the National Health Fund (NFZ), meaning public money paid for non‑existent care.

After reviewing the electronic patient accounts, parents reported the irregularities to prosecutors, alleging criminal activity. Log‑Med defended the entries as standard bureaucratic codes required by the NFZ, insisting that children only received “support” sessions and were never treated. The centre also claimed a mistaken entry about a hemoroid removal was a clerical error. The scandal has prompted calls for tighter oversight of health‑fund reimbursements for school‑based services.
