Poland faces political tension over security and Constitutional Tribunal
Poland is facing significant political tension regarding national security and the composition of the Constitutional Tribunal. Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has publicly criticized Donald Tusk, demanding that the current government share intelligence reports received from the CIA concerning potential Russian escalations and threats to NATO. Morawiecki argued that security information should not be treated as a “political asset” managed solely by the Prime Minister’s office.
Simultaneously, the government is pursuing efforts to reform the Constitutional Tribunal. Reports indicate that the administration is considering various measures to change the tribunal's leadership, including potential legal challenges against Bogdan Święczkowski. The selection of Maciej Berek as a candidate for the tribunal has also become a focal point of political maneuvering.
Internal government dynamics are also shifting. Rumors of a cabinet reshuffle have been downplayed by government spokespeople, though tensions have risen following comments by Szymon Hołowni regarding the need to consult with President Karol Nawrocki on legislative projects to avoid vetoes. Such remarks have reportedly strained relations between Hołowni and the Prime Minister.
