Poland government to set 2027 minimum wage at 4,950 zł

Poland’s tripartite Social Dialogue Council (Rada Dialogu Społecznego) failed to reach a consensus on the proposed rise in the minimum wage and hourly rate for 2027. Under the law, if the council does not agree by the statutory deadline, the Council of Ministers will decide the amounts by 15 September.

The government’s proposal is to raise the gross monthly minimum wage to 4,950 zł from 1 January 2027 – a 3 % increase of 144 zł – and to set the minimum hourly rate for certain civil‑law contracts at 32.30 zł, up 0.90 zł from 2026. Trade unions have counter‑proposed a minimum wage of at least 5,200 zł, while employer organisations argue the increase should not exceed the government’s figure. Leszek Miętek, chair of the Social Dialogue Council’s budget and remuneration team, noted the negotiations were tense and that no compromise appears possible.

The council’s deadline for reaching an agreement was 11 July; with no deal, the government will formalise the levels by regulation, which cannot be lower than the figures previously presented to the council.
