Poland health authorities issue food recalls over Listeria contamination

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) has issued public warnings regarding the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in two different food products in Poland.

One warning concerns a batch of pork in jelly produced by PPHU GWAREK. The affected product has a best-before date of August 31, 2026. The manufacturer has initiated a product recall.

A second warning involves a batch of 'Gałka z Zakopanego' cheese (280g) produced by PPHU Balser Marian Górz for Carrefour Polska. The contaminated batch is number 07286, with an expiration date of September 25, 2026. Carrefour Polska has suspended sales and sent the batch for disposal, while the District Veterinary Officer in Nowy Targ has halted production until safety is confirmed.

Listeriosis poses significant risks to pregnant women, newborns, and immunocompromised individuals, including potential complications such as meningitis, sepsis, or fetal infection.
