Poland faces severe storms, high winds, and temperature shifts
Poland is facing significant weather volatility, characterized by a transition from intense heatwaves to severe storm activity. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued various warnings across the country.
Severe storms are expected, particularly in the southern and southwestern regions. These may include supercells capable of producing heavy rainfall (up to 55 mm per hour), large hail with diameters up to 5 cm, and powerful wind gusts reaching 100-120 km/h. There is also a localized risk of mesocyclonic tornadoes.
In contrast to the storm activity, some areas have experienced extreme heat, with temperatures reaching up to 34-36°C. However, a cold front is expected to bring a significant temperature drop, with many regions seeing highs between 20°C and 25°C, and even snow in the Tatra Mountains above 2200 meters.
Additionally, the second-degree BRAVO and BRAVO-CRP alarm levels remain active across Poland until August 31, 2026, as a preventive measure against hybrid threats and cyberattacks.
