Poland highway data shows higher speeding rates than Germany

Newly released data from the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) reveals high rates of speeding on Polish highways. Analysis of traffic measurements shows that a significant percentage of drivers exceed speed limits, even in regions where strict limits are enforced.

On the A1 motorway between Kamieńsk and Radomsko, approximately 18 percent of light vehicles travel at speeds exceeding 150 km/h. Similar trends were observed on the A4 motorway in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, where 16 percent of drivers exceed 150 km/h, and on the A2 motorway in Mazowieckie, where the figure reaches 15 percent.

Comparisons with German traffic data indicate that Polish drivers exceed high speeds more frequently than those on German Autobahns with no speed limits. In North Rhine-Westphalia, only 8 percent of vehicles on unrestricted sections were recorded traveling above 150 km/h. The data highlights a correlation between high speeds and increased fatality rates on Polish expressways and motorways.
