Poland holds aviation and WWII anniversary commemorations
Various regions in Poland are holding ceremonies to commemorate aviation history and the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.
In Bydgoszcz, Polish Aviation Day was marked with a ceremony at a monument for fallen pilots. The event featured a low-altitude flyover by two American AH-64D Apache helicopters, which are currently used by the Polish armed forces. The celebrations honored historical figures such as Franciszek Żwirko and Stanisław Wigura, as well as Bolesław Orliński.
In the Terespol municipality, commemorations will take place on September 1 at the Małaszewicze monument to honor those lost during German air raids on the local airfield in 1939. The event will include the opening of a historical exhibition regarding the Małaszewicze Air Base (1928–39) at the Gmina Cultural Center in Kobylany.
Additionally, the town of Pleszew will observe the 87th anniversary of the start of World War II on September 1. The ceremony at the Monument to the Soldiers of the 70th Infantry Regiment will include a military honor guard from Jarocin, a roll call of the fallen, and the laying of wreaths.
