Poland holds commemorations for Fr. Stojałowski and Katyń chaplains
Various commemorative events are taking place in Poland to honor historical religious and social figures. In Bielsko-Biała, a “Week with Fr. Stojałowski” will be held from October 19 to 25. The program commemorates the 115th anniversary of the death of Fr. Stanisław Stojałowski, a prominent Galician folk activist, journalist, and member of the Austrian Parliament. Events include an exhibition of his press publications, historical lectures, and a guided walk tracing his footsteps and the history of the Polish House.
In Piekarach Śląskie, a memorial plaque will be unveiled at the Sanctuary of Mother of Justice and Social Love to honor 29 Polish Army chaplains murdered during the Katyń massacre in 1940. The ceremony, organized by the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) and the Association of Memory of Katyń Chaplains, coincides with the National Day of Remembrance of Steadfast Clergy. The plaque specifically highlights clergy from the Katowice diocese, including Fr. Major Jerzy Wrazidło.
