Poland: Home food preservation remains popular for household savings

A survey conducted by Danae in August 2026 reveals that food preservation remains a highly popular practice among Polish households, often serving as a method to manage high costs. According to the Provident Barometer, 79.1% of respondents report making home preserves at least occasionally.

Approximately 73.2% of those surveyed prefer homemade products over store-bought alternatives, while only 12.7% choose shop products. The study indicates that 36.7% of households prepare preserves every season, and 20.8% do so almost every season.

The most popular types of preserves in Poland include pickled cucumbers (80.7%), jams and preserves (65.6%), marinated mushrooms (48.2%), and fruit juices or syrups (44.5%).
