Poland hosts conferences on corporate social responsibility and OECD guidelines

Two conferences in Poland have highlighted the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and international business standards.

In Katowice, the II Forum of Katowice Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) focused on the theme “Katowice creates socially responsible business.” Organized by the Katowice Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Katowice, the event brought together entrepreneurs, local government, and NGOs to discuss cross-sector cooperation and CSR best practices. Katowice Mayor Marcin Krupa emphasized that economic strength is driven not only by investment but also by active entrepreneurs who engage with local community needs.

In Warsaw, a conference titled “Responsible business for a competitive and resilient economy” was held at the Warsaw Stock Exchange to mark the 50th anniversary of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. The event addressed how these guidelines—covering human rights, labor rights, and environmental protection—serve as a framework for responsible conduct. Representatives from the NSZZ Solidarność trade union noted that international standards can act as essential safeguards for workers' rights, providing mechanisms for mediation and public accountability through the OECD National Contact Point.
