Poland hosts 15th National Reading event featuring Mickiewicz’s ‘Dziady’

The 15th edition of the National Reading (Narodowe Czytanie) is taking place across various Polish cities, featuring Adam Mickiewicz’s romantic masterpiece, ‘Dziady’. The nationwide social campaign is held under the honorary patronage of President Karol Nawrocki and First Lady Marta Nawrocka.

Localities participating in the event include Morąg, Jarosław, Szczecin, Elbląg, Olsztyn, Wałbrzych, Głuszyca, Jedlina-Zdrój, Katowice, and Bochnia. The program varies by location, ranging from public readings in squares and libraries to theatrical performances, musical accompaniment, and workshops on old printing techniques. In Olsztyn, the event will include readings in multiple languages, such as Spanish, French, German, and Belarusian.

In addition to the literary focus, some regions are integrating the event with community activities, such as family picnics in Elbląg or the return of a mobile library (Bibliobus) in Bochnia.
