Poland: Two Turkish citizens arrested in Germany over Starlink station arson

Polish authorities have announced the arrest of two Turkish citizens in Germany in connection with a suspected act of sabotage at a Starlink satellite station in Masovia, Poland. The incident, which occurred on September 23 in Wola Krobowska, involved an arson attack that damaged the station’s power system and backup generator.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and other officials have characterized the attack as an act of hybrid warfare. Special Services Minister Tomasz Siemoniak stated there is “no doubt” that Russian intelligence services orchestrated the sabotage, noting that Russia increasingly utilizes individuals linked to the criminal underworld for such operations. The station, owned by the state telecommunications company Exatel, is a critical piece of infrastructure used to facilitate internet connectivity for Ukraine, including for its military.

German police conducted the arrests in Nürtingen, Baden-Württemberg, at the request of Polish services. Reports also indicate a third suspect, potentially a driver, was detained in Berlin-Spandau. The suspects face charges in Poland for carrying out sabotage on the instructions of a foreign intelligence agency.
