Poland identity card application requires in-person visits
In Poland, most adults cannot complete the application process for a standard identity card entirely online. Due to European Union security regulations implemented in November 2021, new identity documents must include biometric data, such as fingerprints and a handwritten signature.
Because these biometric requirements cannot be fulfilled remotely via a trusted profile, applicants aged 12 and older are generally required to visit a municipal or city office in person. An exception exists for children under the age of 12, whose applications can be submitted online by a parent or legal guardian through the gov.pl portal.
