Poland implements digital medical certificates and remote consultations

Poland is advancing the digitalization of medical documentation, specifically regarding occupational medicine and remote consultations.

Starting April 17, 2026, a phased transition will allow occupational medicine doctors to issue electronic certificates and recommendations. The process includes three stages: an initial period of dual paper and electronic issuance, followed by the inclusion of medical recommendations, and concluding on October 18, 2026, when all certificates and recommendations must be issued exclusively in electronic form. This transition covers various medical rulings, including those regarding a worker's ability to perform specific tasks, the impact of work on health, and occupational diseases.

Additionally, remote medical consultations are becoming a practical tool for residents, such as those in Gniezno, to manage chronic conditions and obtain e-prescriptions. These digital services allow patients to discuss treatment plans and medical history with doctors without traveling to a physical clinic, provided the doctor can assess the patient's health status through the provided information.
