Poland implements mobile phone ban in primary schools

Poland is implementing a nationwide ban on mobile phone use in primary schools, affecting both public and private institutions. The regulation, which has been signed by the President, aims to restrict students' access to smartphones and the internet during both lessons and breaks.

Proponents of the measure, including the Center for Life and Family, have advocated for such restrictions for several years to address concerns regarding children's mental health and social development. Critics and supporters alike note that previous attempts to manage phone use through individual school statutes were largely ineffective, as teachers often lacked the practical tools or authority to enforce such rules without facing potential legal challenges regarding student rights.

Public figures, including actress Katarzyna Warnke, have expressed strong support for the decision, citing a perceived crisis in children's mental health and a decline in essential social skills and interpersonal communication due to excessive screen time.
