Polish railway operators launch promotions and dual-use train initiatives
Polish railway operators are implementing several new initiatives. PKP Intercity is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a promotional sale from September 1 to 3, offering single tickets for domestic travel at a discount of at least 35%. These promotional tickets can be used for trips through early October for IC/TLK categories and through late October for EIP and EIC categories.
In the regional sector, POLREGIO has applied for financing from the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego to purchase 15 dual-use hybrid train sets. These units are designed to serve passenger connections under normal conditions but can be quickly adapted for medical transport to carry patients and medical equipment during crises. Additionally, the Opole Voivodeship has expanded its ‘Bilet dobrych relacji’ (Good Relations Ticket) program to the modernized Kluczbork – Opole Główne route, capping single ticket prices to increase the attractiveness of regional travel.
PKP Intercity is also introducing a historical train service called ‘Kurpiak’ for a special project, scheduled to run from Łomża to Warsaw on September 13, 2026, featuring retro locomotives and 1980s-style carriages.
