Poland social welfare: Updates on ZUS benefits and support programs

Various social welfare programs and benefit updates are currently active in Poland. Under the ‘Dobry Start’ program, parents can apply for 300 PLN for school supplies until November 30, 2026. Applications must be submitted electronically to ZUS.

Regarding disability and family support, ZUS has updated the social pension (renta socjalna) to 1,978.49 PLN gross as of March 2026. Additionally, orphans may be eligible for a monthly supplement of approximately 689.17 PLN. For individuals unable to live independently, supplementary benefits can reach a total of 830 PLN when combined with nursing allowances.

Other notable updates include:

• PFRON’s ‘Aktywny Samorząd’ Module III, which provides housing assistance for people with disabilities, has a shortened application deadline of October 15, 2026.

• Holders of historical car prepayment booklets (for Fiat 126p or FSO 1500) can claim increased compensation, with maximum amounts reaching up to 29,024 PLN starting October 1, 2026.

• The National Freedom Institute (NIW) has announced funding for over 160 youth organization projects through the 2026 Youth Fund.
