Poland increases inspections for homeowners regarding waste and safety

Homeowners in Poland are facing increased regulatory inspections regarding waste management and building safety. Under the Act on Maintaining Cleanliness and Order in Municipalities, local authorities, including mayors and city presidents, have the power to conduct environmental inspections of private properties between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM.

In cities such as Szczecinek, officials are conducting inspections of compost bins to verify that they are being used correctly for municipal bio-waste. These inspections involve photographic documentation and can be scheduled or random. Similarly, in Przasnysz, random checks are being implemented.

Additionally, property owners are reminded of their legal obligation under the Construction Law to conduct annual chimney inspections. Failure to maintain proper records or comply with heating system verifications can result in fines, such as a 500 PLN penalty for missing entries in the Central Register of Emitted Substances (CEEB).
