Germany faces pressure to electrify Dresden-Wrocław railway line

German CDU politician Marko Schiemann is calling on the German government to fulfill a 2003 agreement to electrify the railway line connecting Dresden, Görlitz, and Wrocław. Schiemann emphasized that while Poland has completed its part of the project, the route remains listed only as a 'potential requirement' in Germany's federal transport infrastructure plan. He argued that the delay maintains a division in the European rail network and urged the government to re-evaluate the project's cost-benefit ratio in light of recent geopolitical and economic changes.

Simultaneously, various infrastructure projects and disruptions are occurring across Poland. In Chorzów, a viaduct on Nowa Street has been closed for demolition and reconstruction, necessitating significant detours for both passenger cars and heavy vehicles. In Świętochłowice, urgent repairs on the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa (DTŚ) have reduced traffic to a single lane. Other regional updates include roadwork on the A6 motorway near Szczecin, a bridge renovation in Elbląg, and the completion of a bus station renovation in Trzyniec, Czech Republic.
