Poland introduces EP R134 restricted airspace in eastern region
The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP), at the request of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces, is implementing a new restricted airspace zone, EP R134, in eastern Poland. This measure is intended to ensure national security and airspace safety in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The restriction will be in effect from September 10, 2026, through December 9, 2026. It covers airspace from ground level up to FL95, which is approximately 3 kilometers in altitude. Consequently, commercial passenger aircraft operating at higher altitudes will not be affected by these restrictions.
During nighttime hours, a near-total flight ban will be in place within the zone, with exceptions only for military aircraft and coordinated take-offs and landings at the Depułtycze Królewskie (EPCD) airport. During the day, exceptions include military aircraft, certain special status operations, and civil unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), provided they do not violate the Air Defense Identification Zones (ADIZ) of Belarus or Ukraine.
