Poland introduces new PKD 2025 business activity classification

A new Polish Classification of Activities (PKD 2025) has come into effect as of January 1, 2025. Business owners registered in the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG) and the National Court Register (KRS) are encouraged to update their activity codes from the old PKD 2007 system to the new version.

A transitional period is in place until December 31, 2026, during which both the 2007 and 2025 codes may be used. Entrepreneurs are advised to manually update their codes to ensure the classification accurately reflects their actual business operations.

If no manual update is made by the end of 2026, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) will automatically reclassify the codes starting January 1, 2027, based on established transition keys. There is a risk that these automatic assignments may not precisely match a company's real scope of work or may conflict with a commercial company's articles of association or statutes. Furthermore, if an automatic change cannot be completed after January 31, 2027, the CEIDG may remove the entry from the register.
