Poland introduces VAT reforms and new cybersecurity measures

The Polish Council of Ministers has adopted a draft bill to amend the VAT Act, aimed at streamlining tax settlements for online sales of goods and services within the European Union. The changes are designed to facilitate the use of the Union OSS system and reduce registration burdens for entrepreneurs.

In the technology sector, a SAP Polska study indicates that 70% of managers in medium and large companies have integrated AI into their business strategies, though nearly 40% report issues with ‘dead subscriptions’—tools provided to employees that remain unused.

Additionally, the Ministry of Digital Affairs has introduced the ‘Cyber Piątka’ (Cyber Five) package. This legislative proposal seeks to enhance citizen data security through measures such as the certification of medical data processors, increased transparency for patients, and new obligations for entities performing mass data processing.

Regarding consumer habits, a Huawei CBG Polska study found that 52% of Poles view screen time negatively regarding eye health and well-being, yet only 7% of users actively monitor or limit their screen time.
