Poland investigates museum founder over potential fraud
The District Prosecutor's Office in Świdnica has launched an investigation into Magda Ogórek regarding the establishment of the Museum of Stolen Art in Sulisławicach, Lower Silesia. The museum, housed in a 500-square-meter manor-style building, was intended to highlight artworks looted by Nazi Germany.
The investigation follows a notification from the National Revenue Administration concerning the potential misuse of subsidized funds. The project was financed through Ogórek's foundation using private donations and grants from foundations associated with KGHM, Orlen, and Energa. The prosecution is investigating potential fraud and crimes involving property of significant value.
