Poland investigates Russian missile fall in Lubelszczyzna region

A Russian CH‑101 missile landed in the Lublin (Lubelszczyzna) region of Poland early last week, prompting the Government Centre for Security to order an air‑raid alarm that sounded around 4 a.m. in parts of the area. Polish prosecutors returned to the crash site in Tarnawa‑Kolonia to continue forensic and technical examinations, and laboratory analysis indicated the need to locate additional fragments of the object.

Retired General Jarosław Kraszewski told Radio Zet that the incident could be a provocation by Russia, describing it as “a combination of everything” and suggesting the missile may have been deliberately tested or used to send a warning. He noted that CH‑101 missiles are capable of carrying nuclear warheads and should be automatically intercepted, but the Polish air‑defence system did not shoot the projectile down. The incident has raised concerns about air‑space security and the potential for further Russian provocations.
