Poland invests over 150 million zł in district heating and power grid upgrades

Węglokoks Energia ZCP in Ruda Śląska will build a 4.5 km pre‑insulated heating pipeline linking the Mikołaj plant to the Bielszowice district. The project costs 23.7 million zł, financed mainly by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the European Regional Development Fund, and is scheduled to switch the district from coal‑fired heat to a low‑emission gas‑based system by 2028, reducing CO₂ emissions by about 3,700 t per year.

Energa‑Operator completed a new main substation at Ostrów Wschód in Greater Poland and modernised a 60 km, 110 kV transmission line. The combined investment exceeds 133 million zł, with roughly 75 million zł provided as a non‑repayable grant from the National Recovery Plan. The upgrades improve supply reliability for more than 50,000 customers, enable connection of over 400 MW of renewable generation and storage, and increase the grid’s resilience to faults.
