Russian drone strikes train near Ukraine-Poland border FAST-MOVING

A Russian drone strike hit a passenger train traveling from Kyiv to Warsaw near the Ukrainian-Polish border, approximately two kilometers from the border crossing at Yahodyn. The attack damaged the train's locomotive, but no injuries were reported among the 206 passengers, who were evacuated following warnings.

Ukrainian railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia suggested the strike may have been a deliberate attempt to target a diplomatic train. High-profile Western officials, including former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former US CIA Director David Petraeus, had been in the vicinity or on similar rail lines shortly before the incident. Johnson condemned the strike as 'random and senseless.'

In a separate incident near the same border crossing, a drone strike hit a gas station, causing a fire and destroying trucks. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy both characterized these strikes near NATO territory as a significant escalation by Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated its forces were targeting infrastructure used for transporting military cargo from Europe into Ukraine.
