Poland Issues Storm and Heat Alerts Amid Ongoing Low‑Pressure System

The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued level I and II warnings for thunderstorms and heat across most of Poland. Level I storm alerts cover several voivodeships with expected rain of 20‑35 mm and wind gusts up to 80 km/h, while level II alerts forecast heavier rain of 35‑50 mm and gusts up to 90 km/h, with possible hail. Heat warnings predict maximum temperatures of 30‑32 °C in the affected regions. The alerts are in force from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning.

Meteorologists note that a broad low‑pressure system remains over northern and central Europe, keeping a cold front over Poland. A secondary low‑pressure centre is developing over the Danish Straits, sustaining unsettled weather for the next 24 hours. Forecasts call for continued cloud cover, intermittent rain and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 19‑23 °C in the north and west to 25‑28 °C in the south and east, and occasional strong wind gusts of 80‑90 km/h.
