Poland launches 400 million PLN subsidy program for pig farmers
The Polish government has launched a new subsidy program aimed at rebuilding the national pig population, with a total pool of 400 million PLN. Minister of Agriculture Stefan Krajewski announced that 300 million PLN is allocated for sows, providing 1,000 PLN per animal, provided they are individually marked to prevent fraud. An additional 100 million PLN is designated for purchasing gilts under 12 months old, offering two installments of 1,000 PLN each.
Separately, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARiMR) has already distributed 10.44 billion PLN in direct and area-based subsidies for 2026. This includes 9.2 billion PLN to 1.1 million farmers. While most farmers are expected to receive payments by October 16, delays may occur if applicants need to clarify land usage rights or if bank account details are incorrect, as over 2,000 transfers totaling 8.5 million PLN have already been returned due to faulty data.
