Poland launches nationwide vehicle lighting safety campaign

The 11th edition of the national campaign “Twoje Światła – Nasze Bezpieczeństwo” (Your Lights – Our Safety) has launched across Poland. Organized by the National Police Headquarters in cooperation with the Institute of Automotive Transport (ITS), the initiative aims to improve road safety during the autumn and winter months when visibility is reduced by darkness, fog, and precipitation.

Drivers can access free inspections and adjustments of their vehicle lighting at 1,567 participating diagnostic stations nationwide. The campaign features four specific dates for these free services: October 24, November 7, November 21, and December 5. The inspections cover technical functionality, light beam alignment, and the correct distribution of light and shadow to prevent blinding oncoming traffic.

Authorities warn that improper lighting—including unhomologated LED retrofits, cracked lenses, or poorly aimed reflectors—can lead to significant penalties. Drivers found with faulty lighting may face fines ranging from 100 to 3,000 PLN and the potential seizure of their vehicle registration documents.
