Poland launches grain price monitoring service as cattle prices slip ahead of harvest

Firma Osadkowski has introduced a new service that provides daily, region‑specific price information for wheat, rapeseed and corn. The platform aggregates local trader data, allowing farmers to track commodity prices in real time and to make more informed decisions about when to sell or store their grain. According to coordinator Sylwester Kowalczyk, the service aims to counteract the volatility caused by geopolitical factors and storage costs.

At the same time, Polish cattle markets are experiencing downward pressure ahead of the upcoming harvest. Official price listings remain stable, but increased supply of livestock and lower milk prices are prompting farmers to sell, leading to price declines of about 2 % week‑over‑week. Current average net prices are around 24 zł/kg for beef bulls, 13–15 zł/kg for steers and 11.5 zł/kg for cows. Similar cooling trends are reported in Germany, while EU‑wide cattle prices have edged slightly higher.

These developments highlight the dual challenges Polish farmers face: navigating grain price uncertainty with new digital tools and responding to falling cattle prices as market dynamics shift.
