Poland launches nationwide food transport inspections

Authorities in Poland have launched nationwide joint inspections targeting the transport of food, specifically focusing on fruits and vegetables. The operation is a collaborative effort between the Inspectorate of Agricultural and Food Quality (IJHARS), the Road Transport Inspection (ITD), and the Police.

Initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, these inspections aim to ensure food quality is maintained during transit and to prevent unfair competition. Inspectors are verifying transport conditions, such as temperature control and the continuity of the cold chain, as well as reviewing documentation to confirm the origin and nature of the products.

The ITD is responsible for checking vehicle technical conditions, carrier credentials, and driver documentation, while the Police focus on road safety and supporting the overall enforcement actions. The goal is to identify irregularities before products reach retail shelves, thereby protecting consumers and reducing the risk of product recalls or food waste.
