Poland launches subsidies for home sewage treatment and livestock welfare
Polish authorities have opened two grant programmes aimed at improving environmental and animal‑welfare standards. The Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (WFOŚiGW) in the Łódź region will provide up to 8,000 zł per household for installing private sewage treatment plants, with a total budget of 61.8 million zł to support 2,316 installations across 50 municipalities. Applications close in two days, and eligible owners must complete the investment by 30 September 2027.
Separately, a new subsidy scheme for cattle and pig farmers will start on 7 October, offering refunds of up to 150,000 zł per farm (maximum 65 % of eligible costs). Funding can be used for infrastructure that improves animal welfare, such as grazing systems, water points, ventilation, cleaning equipment and monitoring technologies. Both programmes aim to modernise rural facilities and reduce environmental impact.
