Poland launches testing environment for European Digital Identity Wallet

The Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs, in collaboration with the Centralny Ośrodek Informatyki, has launched a testing environment, or sandbox, for the European Digital Identity Wallet. This initiative allows companies and institutions to test how their IT systems and business processes will integrate with the new digital identity standard.

The sandbox is a free resource designed for sectors such as finance, telecommunications, and transport. It enables organizations to verify identity and age without requiring the presentation of physical documents. The wallet is intended to become an integral part of the mObywatel application, facilitating seamless digital identification across the European Union.

Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Dariusz Standerski stated that the move positions Poland as a pioneer in digital services, noting that testing allows businesses to prepare for the upcoming EU-wide standard to ensure smooth market integration once the solution is fully implemented.
