Poland leads EU pumpkin production with 436,000 ton harvest
Poland has maintained its position as the leading producer of pumpkins in the European Union since 2020. In 2025, Polish pumpkin harvests reached 436,000 tons, accounting for 35 percent of the total EU production.
According to the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR), Poland exported 4,800 tons of pumpkins in 2025. The primary export markets included Italy (22 percent) and Germany (21 percent), followed by Slovakia (17 percent) and the Czech Republic (13 percent).
The growth in cultivation is attributed to the increasing importance of pumpkins in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. Total EU pumpkin production reached 1.2 million tons in 2025, with other major producers including France, Spain, Germany, and Portugal.
