Poland life expectancy shows significant gender and regional gaps
Data from Statistics Poland regarding life expectancy in Poland reveals significant disparities between genders and regions. Women live approximately a decade longer than men on average. In the Warmia-Masuria Voivodeship, life expectancy is notably lower than in other regions, ranking near the bottom of the country for both genders. Women in this region live an average of 82 years, while men live 73 years.
Several socio-economic factors contribute to these figures, including limited access to medical services in rural areas, poor transport infrastructure, high unemployment, and low wages. Additionally, the Warmia-Masuria region reports a suicide rate of 47 per 100,000 people, which is higher than the national average of 40.
The gender gap also impacts retirement; Polish women rank third in Europe for the longest time spent in retirement, averaging 24.5 years, whereas Polish men rank seventh for the shortest, averaging 16.3 years.
