Poland marks Police Day with nationwide ceremonies and honors
Poland commemorated Police Day on 24 July 2026, the 107th anniversary of the State Police established by the Sejm in 1919. Across the country, local events honored officers, promoted staff and presented medals. In Chojnice, Łomża, Kutno, Suwałki, Częstochowa, Ciechanów, Racibórz and other towns, ceremonies featured flag‑raising, minutes of silence for fallen police, and public speeches by municipal officials and senior police commanders.
Special recognitions included the “Policjant, który mi pomógł” competition, district‑police centennial exhibitions, and a sports festival celebrating 100 years of police sport, with a football match between the Police team and a squad of Polish football stars. Women’s contributions were highlighted, and community outreach programmes such as visits to children’s homes and safety demonstrations were carried out. The day also served to recall the historic law that created the modern police force and to promote the role of the police in public safety.
Overall, the celebrations combined formal honors, cultural activities and public engagement to mark the milestone of the Polish police institution.
