Poland milk and cattle prices show signs of recovery

Milk procurement prices in Poland experienced a notable increase in September 2026. According to Statistics Poland (GUS), the national average price rose to approximately 1.87 PLN per liter, a 6% increase compared to August. This marks the second consecutive month of growth following a decline in July. While prices are recovering, they remain 16.3% lower than the average recorded in the previous year.

Regional data shows significant variation. The Podlaskie Voivodeship recorded the highest average at approximately 2.01 PLN per liter, the only region to exceed the 2 PLN threshold. Other high-performing regions included Warmian-Masurian (1.89 PLN/l) and Mazowieckie (1.88 PLN/l), while the lowest price was recorded in the Łódź Voivodeship at approximately 1.72 PLN/l.

In the cattle market, Polish meat plants have begun raising procurement prices for live beef, with some slaughterhouses reporting increases of up to 2 PLN per kilogram within a single week. Current prices for bulls range between 12 and 16 PLN/kg, while heifers are priced between 11 and 16 PLN/kg. Despite these rises, some producers report that prices remain below production costs, noting that profitability for high-quality bulls requires rates closer to 20 PLN/kg.
