Poland Ministry of Education rejects staggered summer holidays

A proposal to divide summer holidays by province in Poland, similar to the current winter break system, has reignited debate within the tourism industry and the government. MP Piotr Uruski suggested that staggered vacation dates could alleviate congestion in popular tourist destinations, reduce traffic jams, and extend the tourism season, thereby boosting regional economies.

However, the Ministry of National Education has rejected the idea. Deputy Minister Katarzyna Lubnauer stated that the ministry does not plan to change the current model, citing the complexity of aligning different schedules with national exams, school recruitment processes, and the systemic differences between the Polish and German models. Parents have also expressed concerns regarding the logistical difficulties of managing children in different school systems and the potential loss of shared family vacation time.
